My New Years Resolution for 2016 was going vegan. There are so many ethical reasons, when I educated myself more on the cruel ways we treat animals, I definitely wanted to be vegetarian, but as I looked into the dairy and egg industry more, Veganism seemed like the only option. The health benefits are also wonderful, cholesterol will not be an issue this year. Not that it ever really has been for me, because I have spent my teen years staring at little patches of cellulite and cringing and eating carrots. (More on that body image issue in future posts.) And finally, it is good for water conservation and global warming to consume less animal products. There are a whole host of other reasons, that I may get back to in the future, but for now, there ya go.
So, I went vegan. Unfortunately, although I have been fairly dedicated, Hershey's Chocolate Kisses still exist, and I am still a mere mortal. I cracked a few times. Leftover Christmas candy is irresistible and after a long day of...absolutely nothing. It was winter break from school. I don't even have an excuse. I work at a toy store for crying out loud, my biggest stressor was a kid hopped on christmas crack. Anyway, I feel really bad about that and want to change. Also, I may have only exercised one time during December. May have. Also, may have run a marathon, you don't know. But I know. The point is, it's time to actually make some goals and stick with them.
My goal for the next 30 days is to be 100% vegan, do fitness blender 30 min workouts every weekday morning, and do 30 min of yoga a day.
This blog will be proof to myself and any random passerby(s) that would like to view it. Also, it will be a host of wonderful articles about wonderful things. So yeah, let's do this.

Welcome to my Life
Hey Y'all!
My name is Anne, and I'm a student at the University of Utah, and I have NO CLUE what I want to do with my life as of now. When a professor said yesterday that the day you graduate college is the biggest "Oh Shit" day of your life, I was a little scared. First, I have to graduate in order to get to the "Oh Shit", so where was I at right now? I haven't even selected a major. I haven't even worked my way up to, "Oh Crap" yet, have I?
Like any other anxiety prone 19 year old, who doesn't realize you don't actually have to plan out your entire life at the age of 19, I started reading an article about finding your purpose, or in my case, at least I was hoping, my major, and it said that having goals, no matter how arbitrary or dumb they may seem, is valuable. One aspiration I've had for a while was to start either a youtube channel or a blog about health. My interests cover a wide array of topics, including: plant based nutrition, body image, yoga, strength training, cooking delicious food, being nice to people, playing with cute animals, and being happy. So here is the beginning of what I hope to enjoy immensely and hope others may as well. In all actuality, here's hoping that through all this writing I may find something I love passionately and have an, "Oh Shit...ake mushrooms are so wonderful" graduation. Although, that may not be an improvement. We will see.
